Bannerman Elected Chair

The Bruening Foundation Distribution Committee, at its December 2008 meeting, elected Douglas Bannerman chair of the Committee for 2009. Bannerman has been a member of the Committee since 2000.
Cunin Steps Down as Chair

Marilyn Cunin stepped down as Chair of the Bruening Foundation Distribution Committee. Cunin has been a member of the Committee since 1992 and was elected Chair in 1993. At its December 2008 meeting, the Committee recognized Mrs. Cunin for her dedicated service. She will continue as a member of the 5-person Committee.

Mission
The mission of the Eva L. and Joseph M. Bruening Foundation is to reduce the impact of poverty and enhance the quality of life of those most in need in Cuyahoga County. The Foundation invests in effective programs that serve the economically disadvantaged by meeting their educational, employment, and basic human needs. The Eva L. and Joseph M. Bruening Foundation has been named a Bronze award winner for excellence in communications by the 2008 Wilmer Shields Rich Awards Program. Sponsored by the Council on Foundations, the awards program recognizes effective communications efforts to increase public awareness of foundations and corporate giving programs. The Bruening Foundation received the award for its 2006 annual report. The award will be presented at Philanthropy’s Vision: A Leadership Summit, in National Harbor, Maryland on Monday, May 5, 2008. Entries to the awards program included annual or biennial reports, magazines/periodicals, special reports, public information campaigns and websites. This year, 213 entries were submitted to the awards program.
